LANSING, MI - State Representative George Cushingberry Jr. (D-Detroit) today announced he will be visiting Bagley Elementary School on Monday, March 21, to read to students as part of "Reps Read Across Michigan."
"I am excited to have this opportunity to read to the children, especially during this important month," Cushingberry said. "Teaching our children to read prepares them for a lifetime of success. Reading broadens your horizons and opens the door to many experiences."
"I want to share my love of reading with the children and I want to show them that reading is fun," Cushingberry added.
Cushingberry will be reading to second- and third-graders at 1 p.m. at Bagley Elementary at 8100 Curtis Street.
"Reps Read Across Michigan" is a bipartisan event of the Michigan House of Representatives. House members will be traveling to Michigan schools to encourage reading. The event is part of Reading Awareness Month, which kicked off March 2 with a celebration of Dr. Seuss' birthday.
